                          Artist Bio

My paintings evolve as I work on them, in water-based media, layer after layer. They are a synthesis of color, texture, light, shape and form. I have mentally absorbed and recorded impressions from the miles of hiking that I do in Colorado and Utah. I regard my work as a form of play – an attempt to capture the essence and interplay of color, the effects of geologic time and weathering by wind and water, light and shadow.  I attempt to create a feeling of timelessness, whether the subjects are canyon walls or ancient remnants of stone wrought by man-durable monuments, nature’s icons.

I live in Grand Junction Colorado during the winter months. I spend the summers at my cabin on 35 acres in Eagle County Colorado. I am the author of the 2010 book “Colorado Wildflowers: Montane Zone”, paintings I did of the flowers I located and identified on my Eagle County land. They are done in watercolor, 160 of them. The book is available, signed and personalized by me, and can be ordered by calling me at 970-948-1993.

I am a Signature Member of the Western  Colorado Watercolor Society and a Signature Member of the Colorado Watercolor Society. My paintings may be purchased by calling me at 970-948-1993.
